Using Motivation Stock
In short: Read, share and enjoy it for your own personal use. Please don’t misuse it.
You may browse, read and share Motivation Stock for your own personal, non-commercial use.
Please don’t:
copy large parts of the site, or republish it as your own;
scrape, crawl or harvest content or data in bulk without our written permission;
try to break, overload or get around the site’s security, including the contact form’s limits;
use the site to send spam, or anything unlawful, abusive, hateful or misleading.
We may limit or block access for anyone who breaks these rules.
03
Quotes and other people’s work
In short: Quotes belong to the people who said them. We try hard to get names right and fix mistakes when told.
Quotes on Motivation Stock are the words of the people they are attributed to, and any rights in them belong to those people or their publishers. We share short quotations to inspire and to comment on ideas, and we always name the person we believe said them.
Quotes are often misattributed online. We check attributions before adding them, but we can’t guarantee every one is correct. If you spot a mistake, please tell us and we’ll look into it.
If you own the rights to something on Motivation Stock and want it credited differently or removed, contact us and we’ll respond promptly.
04
Our own content
In short: Our stories and design are ours. Sharing a link or a short excerpt with credit is welcome.
Unless stated otherwise, the original writing (including journal stories and book summaries), the design, the illustrations and the layout of Motivation Stock belong to us.
You’re welcome to share links, and to quote short excerpts with a credit and a link back to the page. For anything more, like reprinting a full story, please ask us first.
05
Photos, covers and videos
In short: Images and videos come from other sources, are credited, and follow those sources’ terms.
Some images and media on Motivation Stock come from third parties and are used under their own terms:
Author photos come from Wikimedia Commons under the licences shown in their credit lines (for example Creative Commons BY or BY-SA, or public domain). Some have been cropped.
Journal photos come from Unsplash and are credited on each image.
Book covers are loaded from Open Library and belong to their publishers. They’re shown to identify each book.
Videos are embedded from YouTube. When you play one, YouTube’s own terms and privacy policy apply, and YouTube may set cookies.
These rights stay with their owners, and these terms don’t give you permission to reuse them. Please check the original source and licence.
06
Book links and recommendations
In short: Some book links may earn us a small commission. It never decides what we recommend.
Some links to books, for example to Amazon, may be affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps keep Motivation Stock running.
We recommend books and talks because we think they’re worth your time, not because of any commission. Prices, availability and purchases are handled by the seller, under the seller’s terms.
07
Things you send us
In short: If you send us a quote, idea or story, you let us use it on Motivation Stock, with credit where it makes sense.
When you send us something through the contact form or by email, like a quote, a book or talk suggestion, or a story pitch, you confirm that you are allowed to share it with us.
You give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide permission to use, edit and publish what you send on Motivation Stock and in our newsletter. Where it makes sense, we’ll credit you by first name. You keep ownership of your own original work.
We read every message, but we can’t promise to reply to or publish every suggestion. We decide what appears on the site.
08
The contact form
In short: Use it to talk to us, not to spam. There’s a limit on how many messages you can send.
The contact form sends your message by email to our team. To prevent abuse, there is a limit on how many messages one visitor can send in an hour, and automated submissions are filtered out.
Please only include information you’re happy for us to read and keep in our inbox. Don’t send passwords, financial details or sensitive personal information.
09
Your information
In short: An account is optional. If you make one, we keep only what it needs, and you can delete it any time. Some things are saved only in your own browser.
You can use Motivation Stock without an account. A few features save information only in your own browser (using local storage), so it never reaches us: your contact form draft, your recent searches, your book reading progress and, if you’re not signed in, your progress on the 7-day challenge. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.
If you create a free account, we store your name, your email address, your password (scrambled, so nobody can read it, not even us), whether you’d like the Sunday email, the favourites you save and your 7-day challenge progress and notes. We use them only to run your account. While you’re signed in, we keep a record of each sign-in (when it ends, the internet address and the browser it came from) to keep you signed in and to protect your account; sign-ins end after 30 days. You can delete your account from your account page at any time, and everything saved in it is removed.
When you send a message, we receive the name, email address and message you enter, and use them to reply to you. How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy policy.
10
