Questions

How we choose our quotes.

Are these quotes real?

We only add quotes we’re confident about. Many famous lines are credited to the wrong person online. When we can’t trace a well-known line to the person it’s usually credited to, we say “often attributed to” instead of guessing. Spotted a mistake? Tell us and we’ll check it.

Who are the people behind them?

Writers, thinkers, athletes and leaders. Most quotes link to a page about the person, with more of their quotes, books and talks. See them all on the authors page.

Is there a new quote every day?

Yes. The quote of the day changes daily and is the same for everyone. You’ll find it at the top of this page and on the homepage. Want one in your inbox? The Sunday email brings a quote to carry into your week.

Can I save or share a quote?

Yes. Copy the quote of the day with one tap, or save any quote with the heart button. Saving needs a free account, so your favourites follow you to any device. When you share a quote, please keep the person’s name with it.
